Swim Levels & Lesson Focus
While typical lesson goals for each level and/or age group are provided below, actual swim lessons are customized for the age and ability of each swimmer.
Aqua Newbies
6 mos. - 2 years
This level focuses on developing a high comfort level in the water, while training parents in water safety and drowning prevention. This course does not teach children to become accomplished swimmers or to survive in the water; it does provide a confidence-building, fun and loving experience. One parent or caregiver must be in the water or present during lessons.
Ages 3 - 5
I'm Ready....But Still a Little Afraid
This level focuses on a high comfort level in the water and a readiness to swim. we will emphasize the development of jumping in, kicking to the surface of the water, getting air and returning to the wall. Safety skills, entries and exits will also be highlighted at this level.
This level approaches teaching swimming through creative and fun activities in the water. Children must be able to support themselves by holding onto the side of the pool.
Aqua Newbie-NOTs
Float, Jump...I'm Not Afraid!
This level will focus on developing correct body rotation and forward movement in the water. Lessons will emphasize independent floating, gliding,and arm strokes combined with kicking. Recognizing distressed swimmers, getting help, and entries/exits from deep water will also be taught iat this level. Children must be completely comfortable in the water, and be able to float on their front and back, and can jump in and return to the surface of the water without help.
Custom Lessons
All Ages
Any child or adult can enjoy a customized lesson suited to their skill level and desire to learn. Whether the focus is on basic swim instruction, safety techniques, learning or fine-tuning competitive strokes, breathing techniques, or anything in between, it can be accomplished with customized lessons.
